How it works
Three steps to a budget range
1. Choose a project
Kitchen refresh or full remodel, bathroom, flooring, interior or exterior paint, roof, deck, windows, entry door, garage door, siding, a room refresh, or an ADU or room addition.
2. Add your details
Your ZIP code, a finish level (basic, mid or premium) and a few simple measurements.
3. See your range
Low, likely and high budgets from 4,000 simulated outcomes, split into materials, labor, permits, overhead and profit, and contingency.
Why it's different
Every line shown, with its source
From the sample kitchen above.
Local
Wages for your area from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, plus your county's sales tax.
Transparent
Every line shows its quantity, price, source and date. Nothing hidden in a black box.
Honest ranges
You see the spread, not a single number that sounds more certain than it is.
Several projects at once
Add a kitchen, a bath and new floors to one bundle and see one combined range.
Finish-level guide
Compare basic, mid and premium side by side, with the products behind each.
Ready for bids

FAQ
Common questions
Is this a quote?
No. It's a budget estimate, not a bid, appraisal, or insurance claim valuation. Get written bids from licensed contractors before you decide.
Where do the prices come from?
Public data (BLS, CDTFA, FHFA, Census, California DIR) and retail prices recorded by hand from public store pages, each dated.
Does it cover ADUs and additions?
Yes, at an early planning level: a garage conversion, a new detached ADU or an attached room addition, built system by system. Design, engineering and city fees are shown as separate allowances you pay directly. Soils, utilities and plan check move these budgets most.
Do I need an account?
No. Estimates save in your browser. Sign in with a Caissonix account to keep them with your account.
What does it cost?
Free during the pilot. Proposed: $19 per detailed report or $49 per year.
Remodel Estimator is self-serve budgeting software from Caissonix, in pilot. Budget estimate, not a bid, appraisal, or insurance claim valuation. Get licensed contractor bids, and check a contractor's license with the Contractors State License Board before you sign.
